Their marriage might not have worked out, but as the father of her four children Kanye West holds an important place in Kim Kardashian's heart.
And the reality superstar made that clear as she told her ex 'love u for life' on Tuesday, while marking his 44th birthday.
Taking to Instagram Kim shared a series of images from her time with Kanye to her Instagram stories, and one grid post.
She wrote: "Happy birthday, love u for life!"
Also celebrating Kanye's birthday was his former mother-in-law Kris Jenner, or Kris Jong Un as he once infamously called her in reference to the North Korean dictator.
"Happy birthday," shared the Kardashian matriarch on her Insta Story.
Kris likes to keep a close eye on her daughter's exes and remains in close contact with daughter Kourtney Kardashian's former love Scott Disick.
Kim's little sis Khloe Kardashian seemed more enthusiastic about the day, writing: "Happy birthday to my brother for life!!! Have the best birthday Ye! Sending you love and endless blessings!!"
The grid post accompanying her message included a picture of Khloe and Tristan Thompson in the ocean with Kim and Kanye.
While the girls were in swimsuits and Tristan was in swim shorts, Kanye wore a baggy T-shirt for his dip.
Kanye and Kim plan to coparent their young children following the end of their five and a half year marriage earlier this year.
The divorce has been amicable and the two have agreed to share custody of daughter North, seven, son Saint, five, daughter Chicago, two, and one-year-old son Psalm.
Before the divorce was announced, Kim had been living in Los Angeles with their children, while Kanye had been spending most of his time at his sprawling Wyoming ranch.
Kanye was Kim's third husband following her youthful first marriage to Damon Thomas from 2000 to 2004, and disastrous second marriage to Kris Humphries for just 72 days in 2011.
