King Charles has reportedly evicted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from their UK base of Frogmore Cottage following the publication of Harry's memoir Spare earlier this year.
The book saw the Prince share some intimate details of his personal and royal life, including claims that his brother Prince William physically attacked him, and that it was Charles who first called him the "spare" – almost immediately after he was born.
And now the Sussexes frosty relationship with the Royal Family has been hit by another blow, with the couple reportedly being kicked out of Frogmore Cottage.
The couple are thought to be arranging for any items they still have at Frogmore to be sent to their home in California, ahead of the change in residence.
A royal insider told The Sun: "This surely spells the end of Harry and Meghan’s time in the UK."
It comes following reports that Prince Andrew is set to be moved from the Royal Lodge, where he has lived since 2003, alongside his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.
He's now thought to have been offered Frogmore Cottage instead, with a source telling the outlet: "Andrew is resisting the idea of moving into Frogmore Cottage after he was offered it last week. But it shows Harry and Meghan are powerless to stop the eviction."
The disgraced Prince was previously said to be refusing to move out of the Royal Lodge, with an insider telling The Mirror: "He [said] he’s not leaving, there is no chance that will happen and even if the King wanted him how would that work? The King won’t evict him so there is no chance it will come to that.
"If he (the King) wants to spend millions reimbursing him for the money he’s already spent on the property, that’s another matter."
Another source added: "Could you imagine a situation where the Duke threatens to sue his brother, the King, over money. It would be unthinkable.”
The late Queen Elizabeth gifted Frogmore Cottage to Harry and Meghan following their wedding back in 2018.
The cottage was converted into one home in 2019, having previously been five separate properties for staff working on the Windsor Estate.
Andrew inherited the Royal Lodge, which is also located in the Windsor Estate after the Queen Mother's death in 2003, and has spent millions on refurbishing the home.
This shake-up in royal residences brings further doubt to the possibility of Harry and Meghan attending the coronation, despite the King having reportedly asked the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby to broker a deal with the Sussexes.
The King is said to believe that Harry and Meghan's absence from the event would prove a bigger distraction than their presence, while the Prince of Wales is concerned that his brother may overshadow the event by using it as a “stunt”.
