The ‘Big Little Lies’ star and her Jaywalker Pictures production partner, Jayme Lemons, have signed a first-look deal to develop new content exclusively for the Amazon-owned firm.
AceShowbiz –Laura Dern is banking on the continued growth of the podcast industry after signing a first-look deal to develop new content for bosses at streaming service Audible.
The “Big Little Lies” star and her Jaywalker Pictures production partner, Jayme Lemons, will executive produce the audio series exclusively for the Amazon-owned firm. They will be joined in the executive producers’ seat by Jason Weinberg and Steven Nossokoff of Untitled Entertainment.
Dern and Lemons have yet to share the kind of material they hope to produce, but they are promising a “diverse slate” of shows for Audible subscribers.
In a joint statement issued to Variety, the pair said, “Since founding our company, Jaywalker Pictures, we have focused on giving incredible storytellers avenues to share their talents.”
“We couldn’t be more excited to collaborate with Audible to continue that mission and look forward to bringing a diverse slate of content to the remarkable platform Zola [Mashariki, head of Audible Studios] and company have created,” the duo continued.
Mashariki added, “Through this latest collaboration with Jaywalker Pictures, Audible continues to double down on its commitment to spotlight extraordinary female storytellers.”
“Laura is a fearless and profoundly gifted performer and creator – an artist with an astonishing and unparalleled way of expressing her point of view and telling unforgettable stories,” she continued gushing. “We are thrilled to embark on this creative journey with Laura and Jayme and look forward to bringing their work to Audible’s vast audience of insatiable listeners.”
Audible has had a slew of original series on its slate. They include include Elizabeth Banks‘ unscripted podcast “My Body, My Podcast”; “Sheryl Crow Words + Music” and “Alanis Morissette Words + Music”; as well as Jamie Lee Curtis‘ “Letters from Camp”.
