Liam Neeson fell in love with a woman in Australia but they can’t be together

Liam Neeson has revealed he ‘fell in love’ with a woman while in Australia, but the pair are unable to be together because she is ‘taken’ by someone else.

The actor, 69, who spent several months Down Under in 2020, was widowed in 2009 and revealed he fell for someone unavailable while he was filming action movie Blacklight, which was released in January 2022.

Liam told Sunrise hosts David Koch and Natalie Barr on Monday: ‘I loved Melbourne. I loved our Australian crew, they are fantastic workers.

‘Every department was superb. They were their own people, do you know what I mean? They had a great sense of humour.’

He then added: ‘I made a couple of pals, I fell in love, but she was taken.’

The hosts were ‘intrigued’ by the Schindler’s List star’s confession and made it their mission to locate the mystery woman who had stolen Liam’s heart.

Liam has been single since his wife, Natasha Richardson, died in 2009 following a tragic accident while skiing.

The actress, who was 45, hit her head as she fell while taking a beginner skiing lesson in Canada, leaving her with a head injury.

She had initially refused medical help but complained of a severe headache a couple of hours later and was rushed to hospital, where she died two days later.

The couple had been married since 1994 and shared two sons, Micheál and Daniel.

Michael, now 27, told Vanity Fair in 2020: ‘I think the pain was a little too overwhelming. I think the mind is very powerful, and subconsciously, or unconsciously, it can protect you.

‘That’s what it did when she passed. I just pushed it aside and didn’t want to deal with it.

‘I don’t, even still, think that I’ve fully comprehended it, and that seems to be a similar journey to a lot of people I’ve spoken to.’
