Lil Nas X Wins Top Music Honor At GLAAD Media Awards

Lil Nas X won music’s top honor at the 33rd annual GLADD Media Awards, being crowned with the Outstanding Music Artist award at the Hilton Midtown in New York City.

Lil Nas, who previously won the award in 2020, is now the eighth artist to repeat as a winner in the Outstanding Music Artist category. Melissa Etheridge, Rufus Wainwright, k.d. lang and Scissor Sisters have each won the award three times. Indigo Girls, Lady Gaga and Tegan and Sara have also each won it twice.

Transgender recording artist/actress Peppermint co-hosted the GLAAD Media Awards with celebrity Peloton instructor Cody Rigbsy. Peppermint joined Oscar winner Ariana DeBose for an impromptu a cappella performance of West Side Story.

The show also honored FX’s “Pose” for Outstanding Drama Series, while “The Oprah Conversation” on Apple TV+ won Outstanding Variety or Talk Show Episode for its interview with Elliot Page.

The first half of the awards were held at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Saturday, April 2. The GLAAD Media Awards honor fair, accurate and inclusive representations of LGBTQ people and issues.
