Lizzo shuts down the MTV VMAs red carpet in HUGE navy dress… as fans hilariously react on Twitter: ‘Is she wearing a stage curtain?’

Lizzo arrived at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards in an eye-popping, statement dress on Sunday.

The 34-year-old singer stunned in a billowing gown by designer Jean Paul Gaultier, which she teamed with black lipstick and a lip ring.

The Detroit native wore her dark hair slicked back in a sleek, made-to-look wet style that flowed down her back.

Lizzo commanded attention in the vampy look, teaming her dress with a pair of sheer, navy opera gloves.

And in her ears Lizzo – full name Melissa Viviane Jefferson – stacked a collection of gold hoop earrings.

The accessories ranged in size, going from small to large as they lined almost the full length of her ears.

Centered on her bottom lip was a gold hoop lip ring, which gave her already bold look an added edge.

She wrote, ‘My stylist: How much fabric do you wanna wear? Me: Yes,’ along with a trio of photos.

A fan retweeted it and added, ‘This look is giving – Missy Elliot’s – The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly) And I’m here for it! #lizzo #VMAs.’

Another viewer echoed the sentiment, writing on the app, ‘@lizzo is no stranger to giving the girls drama on the carpets. she wore a #JeanPaulGaultier #GaultierCouture spring/summer 2022 gown to the 2022 @vmas and it’s giving real @MissyElliott teaseeeee!’

Jefferson’s frock had an off-the-shoulder design and through her gloves her long, stiletto nails were visible, as well as gold rings.

Her makeup was typically flawless, with her full eyebrows nicely shaped, creating a gorgeous frame for the rest of the look.

She kept her her eye makeup subtle, highlighting her lids with a shimmer before extending to fluttery lashes.

Lastly, she created depth and definition with expertly contoured cheeks that were dusted in highlighter and blush.

She was among the first performers at the live show, and kept the audience entertained with renditions of her songs About Damn Time and 2 Be Loved (Am I Ready?).

The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards are being held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

LL Cool J, Jack Harlow, and Nicki will share hosting duties.
