Lorraine Kelly’s mum rushed to hospital as TV star praises NHS for looking after her

TV host Lorraine Kelly has praised NHS staff in Scotland who looked after her mum after she was rushed to hospital.

Lorraine’s mum, Anne, who recently turned 80, was recently rushed to hospital in her hometown of East Kilbride, where the TV favourite grew up.

Following Anne’s hospital dash, daughter Lorraine, 62, who recently spoke out about Deborah James’ funeral, took to Twitter to commend the NHS staff who took care of her mum.

She shared a message to personally thanks the team at University Hospital Monklands and made specific thanks to Dr Jack Fairweather who is a kidney specialist at the Lanarkshire hospital.

She wrote: “Huge thanks to @JAFairweather and all at @UHMonklands who are taking such good care of my wee mum. Can’t thank you all enough.” She ended the tweet with three red heart emojis.

Fans rushed to the post to share their well wishes with the popular Scottish presenter.

One wrote: “Sorry to hear about your Mum Lorraine going into Hospital, ive just read. I hope she gets well soon and a speedy recovery. Love to you and all the family”, followed by a red heart emoji.

A second penned: “Hope you're wee mum gets better soon Lorraine”.

While a third shared: “Wishing yer wee ma a speedy recovery.

Lorraine recently opened about regaining her confidence after dropping two dress sizes and being able to fit back into her wedding dress 30 years on.

Since embarking on a healthy living programme with WW, formerly known as Weight Watchers, in January, she’s not only dropped two dress sizes – a weight loss of a stone-and-a-half – but she also says she’s got her mojo back.

“I was 11 stone 10 when I started and now I’m 10 stone three,” she told OK!

I’ve certainly got my zest for life back, she told us.

“It’s improved my confidence massively. I feel like I can take on anything right now. I just got invited to this wonderful opera with my daughter and I probably wouldn’t have done that before, but now I’m going to everything and it feels fantastic.

"I am relishing these experiences. I went to the Baftas a few weeks ago and it’s the first time in a while I felt I could enjoy the evening and present an award without thinking, “Oh, I don’t feel nice,” or, “I can’t find anything to fit any more.”
