Love Island fans spot this season's buzzword already

‘Can we use new adjectives?’: Love Island fans are left irritated as they notice this season’s new buzzword used by all the islanders in the first episode

From ‘I’ve got a text’ to ‘pulling me for a chat’, the show is known for generating a slew of famous slogans and catchphrases.

And Love Island fans were convinced that they’ve spotted a new one already during the new winter series’ launch on Monday.

Viewers were left irritated as they noticed the new islanders using the word ‘unreal’ repeatedly to describe each other, taking to Twitter to beg for ‘new adjectives’ to use.

‘Can we use new adjectives?’: Love Island fans were left irritated on Monday evening as they noticed this season’s new buzzword used by all the islanders in the first episode

While the long-running show has a long list of popular slogans that have become a hit with fans, the repeated use of ‘unreal’ has began to grate on viewers already.

The word was more notably used by many of the boys to decsribe the girls, with farmer Will even telling Tanya that she looked ‘unreal’ during the coupling up ceremony.

But he then stayed put when the boys were asked to step forward if they were attracted to her.

Fans took to social media to express their annoyance at the lack of variation in contestants’ vocabularies.

New one! While the long-running show has a long list of popular slogans that have become a hit with fans, the repeated use of ‘unreal’ has began to grate on viewers already

Sick of it? Fans took to social media to express their annoyance at the constant use of ‘unreal’ by the islanders

‘All these lot know is “unreal”  can we use new adjectives,’ questioned one viewer on Twitter.

While others echoed this view by sharing: ‘If I hear “unreal” ONE MORE TIME’ and ‘Have they all been told to say unreal?’

The phrase left some confused, as a fourth user tweeted: ‘”You look unreal,” I must be getting old. This just sounds like an insult to me.’

Confusing: Will even told Tanya that she looked ‘unreal’ during the coupling up ceremony, but failed to step forward for the beauty

‘I think moreso than ever this #loveisland feels like it’s about a very specific subculture of elaborately plucked youngsters who speak solely in around five adjectives (unreal, insane, etc) that they rotate at random,’ added another annoyed fan,

While many also called out Will for his stand-out compliment to Tanya before not stepping forward for her.

The winter series of the show kicked off with a highly-anticipated launch on Monday evening, welcoming ten new singletons into the villa – and one bombshell at the end.

And doing what they do best on social media, fans got straight to work with a new batch of hilarious jokes and memes of the new contestants.

From farmer Will’s awkward flirting to Olivia’s glaring side eye, it appeared that every detail of the night’s proceedings inspired a comedic response.

When it was Olivia’s turn to choose a boy to couple up with, she chose Kai, despite him not stepping forward for her.

She came to regret the decision when, Kai stepped forward for Tanyel, causing Olivia to give him the daggers and frostily remark: ‘It is what it is’.

Viewers jumped on the hilarious moment, with one declaring her side eye to be the ‘first meme of the season’.
