Love Island’s Amy Hart ‘books constant scans’ as she struggles with pregnancy anxiety

Love Island’s Amy Hart has opened up about wanting to book constant ultrasounds for reassurance as she struggles with pregnancy anxiety.

The star recently announced she was expecting her first child with her boyfriend Sam Rason.

And while she couldn’t be happier about the news, the 30 year old says she has also been plagued with worry that something will “go wrong”.

Speaking exclusively to OK!, Amy told us: “We went for a scan at six weeks as I needed to know there was something there.

“I had another recently and I was anxious, as I was like: ‘What if I get there and something has happened?’ We’re so excited and planning so much but things do go wrong.”

She continued: “I also felt really sick, so I had a can of ginger ale and the sugar woke the baby up – during the scan, they were kicking their legs and waving their arms, which was amazing.

“Like with the tests, I’ve wanted to book scans all the time and Sam was like, “Are we just going to have a scan every week for the next nine months just to check?!” and I was like, “No,” but you do worry.

“I’m a real Googler and an overthinker. I got a bit of trapped wind and stomach cramps and any time I had pain on either side, I thought it was an ectopic pregnancy.”

Amy has also had to deal with a diagnosis of the STI human papillomavirus (HPV).

Just weeks before she found out she was expecting, Amy was told not to get pregnant by doctors because of her HPV, which can cause cervical cancer, and that they wanted to remove the abnormal cells from her cervix.

She has now been given a consultant who will monitor the cells throughout her pregnancy and check if they are progressing to a worrying level and need to be removed.

Amy announced she was expecting on Loose Women last week with Sam in tow.

She told the panel: “It was very unexpected, we weren't going to try until next year. I had my 30th completely sober. I had people coming up to my saying: 'You don't seem very drunk'.

"I said to my best friend: 'People are starting to ask' and they said: ‘Well, you're going to have to do something'.

"So when the ABBA tribute band performed Lay All Your Love On I started crawling across the dancefloor – and nobody asked again."

Amy has previously discussed her fertility issues and also spent £12,000 freezing her eggs in a bid to increase her chances of becoming a mum one day.

But the star was able to conceive naturally, and says she will donate her frozen eggs if she doesn’t end up using them in the future.
