Love Island season seven contestants, Brad McClelland and Tyler Cruickshank have publicly apologised to their former co-star Rachel Finni after ‘humiliating’ her in a video where they laughed at a comment about her appearance.
Brad, 26, and Tyler, also 26, along with Jake Cornish, 25, and Aaron Francis, 24, took part in an Instagram Live video, and they were seen seemingly laughing at 29 year old Rachel’s expense, after a member of the public commented, saying: “Rachel, yet again, not a bombshell”.
The incident has seen Rachel take to her own social media to slam them as ‘nobodies’ and ‘f**ckboys’, and, amongst revealing her anguish at the situation, she also revealed that it caused her to wish she had never taken part in the popular ITV series.
She’s also been backed by a slew of other Love Island stars who also appeared on last year’s season of Love Island, including, Kaz Kamwi, Sharon Gaffka and Shannon Singh.
Brad and Aaron have both released written statements via their Instagram stories to apologise to Rachel, and both have said that they have reached out to her directly.
Brad’s statement read: “I want to apologise to Rachel and any others for any feelings that were hurt during our Instagram Live the other night. I have rewatched the video back and I can see how this was perceived.
“This upon reflection was not the way to behave, and was 100% not my intention to hurt or upset her [Rachel] and those who know me, know I am not that type of person.
“I have since reached out to Rachel personally and apologised for any hurt that I have caused.”
Brad ended his statement, writing: “From the bottom of my heart, I really am sorry”.
Tyler echoed Brad’s sentiments, writing: “I’m sad and disappointed to understand that my reaction to the comments made during and Instagram live with 3 fellow islanders have upset and offended another individual.
“I appreciate how this has been received and affected others. I have made an attempt to speak with Rachel directly, and I will be available to talk to her when she’s ready,
“I has also come to my attention that Rachel has been subject to hurtful comments across various platforms on a number of occasions – I have not been a party to this, and would not condone nor support behaviour of this nature.
He continued: “I will be taking the time to reflect on my involvement in this situation and what I could have done differently – Tyler.
Neither Jake or Aaron have yet to comment or make a statement, although OK! Has reached out to their representatives for comment.
