Love Islands Faye Winter defends less predictable show as people turn off

Faye Winter, who starred on the seventh season of Love Island in 2021, has defended the latest series of the show in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk.

The ITV star, 28, said she loved how “raw” producers had been in their approach to this series, suggesting it was “really sad” that some viewers hadn’t stuck it out to enjoy all the brilliant “twists and turns”.

The former estate agent, who recently reunited with some of her former co-stars on Love Island: Aftersun, said: “I’m absolutely loving the new series.

“I mean, I’ve got a few people saying they’re not watching it which is really sad.

“But I’m absolutely loving it,” she insisted. “I think they’ve taken it back.

“I think they’ve been so raw with it this year and there have been so many twists and turns and they haven’t followed the norm.

“It hasn’t been so predictable,” she added. “I don’t think the islanders really knew what they were signing up for this year because it’s been so different. I’ve loved it.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Faye described new show host Maya Jama as “unreal”.

Straight away she has stepped into it,” she marvelled. “She has made that show her own.

“You can really tell that she’s been completely authentic and herself and she actually genuinely loves the show.

“She also loves the contestants and she’s just got such an amazing aura about her and she brings such a positive vibe to it.”

Since appearing on Love Island Faye has poured all of her efforts into her charity work with guide dogs, which has earned her a nomination as a Celebrity Charity Champion in the National Third Sector Charity Awards this coming September 22.

“I’m really taking this time to look at my career, look at my avenues and really focus on what I’ve wanted to do for the last two years,” she said.

“And I feel like it’s only really been the past few months that I’ve even been recognised for my animal work – the animal welfare side of things. I really want to stay true to myself.”

Faye, who has been working with Guide Dogs UK for the last couple of years, said: “I don’t think many people can say that they’ve had a longtime partnership like I’ve had with Guide Dogs.

“I absolutely love it. We’ve got such amazing things coming up and I feel like it’s taken me two years to get to a point where I’m actually recognised for the charity work I do and my love of animals.”
