Love Island star Gemma Owen revealed that her partner Luca Bish’s meeting with her dad Michael Owen “couldn’t have gone better”, as she confirmed the two finally met, whilst she appeared on Capital Radio on Tuesday.
Gemma, 19, gushed about the meeting, which was long-awaited after her famous footballer dad was the last out of her family to meet beau Luca, 23, following their exit from the villa.
The star appeared on the radio show after her and Luca’s recent break in Portugal, where the fishmonger met Michael, 42, at the Owen family’s private residence.
Host Rob Howard first asked Gemma about the meeting, as he said: “You managed to squeeze in a holiday though, how was it when Luca met your dad on holiday?”
Gemma, flashing a big smile, replied: “Yeah it couldn’t have gone better, it was so nice!
“We got away for four days, it was a bit of like, got a bit of content, bit of chill time but yeah it was a really nice environment for him to meet everyone. They all get on really well and how he was with my brothers and sisters as well, like, so cute!”
Following the big meeting with her dad, Gemma is looking forward to her next major step with Luca, as she discussed her hopes to move in with him in the future, following in the footsteps of Love Island winning couple Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti.
Gemma spoke of her plans as she said she finds it a “struggle” being apart from Luca after being together for so long on the show.
Host Rob asked: “Would you say [moving in] is on the cards? Is it something you’ve talked about?”
Gemma answered: “I mean definitely yeah, in the future for sure, right now we’re all just trying to settle down with our new lives, but I think definitely.”
She added: “Let’s be girlfriend and then we can talk about moving in together!”
The Love Island runner-up said she is “still waiting” to become official with Luca following the ITV2 show, and would prefer for that to happen first before moving in together.
When asked whether or not Luca had carried out his plan to ask her to be his girlfriend, Gemma replied: “No updates, I’m still waiting!
“I mean I know I said in the villa let’s wait till we get out, want you to meet the family, let’s not rush it, but now I’m like, okay…”
