Love Island’s Katie Salmon announces gender of first child: ‘We have a name!’

Former Love Island star Katie Salmon has revealed that she and fiancé Harry are due to welcome a baby girl later this year.

The 26 year old former glamour model, who made history on the ITV2 dating series for being part of the show's first ever same-sex couple alongside fellow contestant, the late Sophie Gradon, first announced her pregnancy back in January.

She has now told her 261,000 Instagram followers that she's expecting a daughter.

Showing off her blossoming baby bump in a neon pink swimsuit beside a pair of oversized teddy bears and pink unicorn balloons on Thursday 10 March, she captioned the snap: "Baby girl! Mummy and daddy are patiently waiting to meet you. Just a few more weeks."

In a separate photo added to Instagram Stories, her fiancé Harry – to whom she got engaged to on Christmas day last year – also joined in on the fuchsia fun, donning baby pink hat with fluffy rim and carrying a teddy on his shoulders.

Katie – who shares her time between living in both the UK and Thailand – also had some time to answer some questions submitted by fans about her first pregnancy.

She described her journey so far as a "rollercoaster of emotions" with various "ups and downs".

"Now I'm at the last push I feel really heavy and tired," the brunette beauty added. "But that's to expect, I have a little human inside of me. It's been a healing journey for me too. I have enjoyed it."

She was also asked if she has any baby names on the cards as of yet, to which she replied: "She has a name! She's had one for a long time. We all refer to her by name now. Close family anyway."

Congratulatory comments from celebs and fans soon began flooding in on the gender reveal post.

Fellow reality star Chloe Goodman wrote "She will be your bestest friend ever [love heart emojis]", whilst Chloe Khan added: "My little princess".

A number of her 2016 Love Island co-stars also wished her well, with Emma Woodhams commenting "Awww congratulations babe", and that year's winner Cara de la Hoyde posting a series of heart emojis on the post.

She took to Instagram in January to announce the news that she was expecting her first child with Harry – and that she was already six months pregnant.

Sharing a montage of images and videos of her pregnancy journey at the time, the reality star wrote: "First came love, then came you!

"6 months pregnant with our biggest blessing. I’ve kept this between close friends and family for a while but my beautiful baby bump is getting hard to hide. We love you so much already baby and cannot wait to meet you."
