Love Island’s Laura Whitmore hits back at criticism on her pay and how much she’s on show

Laura Whitmore has preemptively shared her responses to the critical comments she receives while hosting Love Island.

The 37 year old TV presenter responded to the comments she has received while hosting previous series in a bid to "get this out of the way" so fans can "enjoy the juicy bits".

Mum-of-one Laura, who is married to Love Island's voice over star Iain Stirling, shared a TikTok video of herself to clear up some of the claims around her presenting duties.

As the video begun, Laura could be seen sipping out of an official Love Island water bottle before pointing above her head to some text which read: "Shall we chat Love Island" followed by a red heart emoji.

She went on to tell viewers: "These are all actual things that have been written or said," followed by a silly face emoji.

Laura then pointed downwards to a comment she's received, which read: "I think it's ridiculous that Laura flies back and forth. Send the guests there!"

She then responded by writing: "The Villa is in Mallorca and Aftersun is in London.

"This is the situation for any host, always has been.

"If I could stay in Mallorca I would," she added alongside a laughing face emoji.

Laura continues: "But at the moment, flying me back and is MORE EFFICIENT than brining our new guests and audience every week.

"I have it in my contract to offset my carbon footprint."

She then pulled a face as the words: "Laura has the easiest job on the telly! She gets paid £50k a min. It's an outrage", pop up on screen.

Laura smiled as she pointed back to her response, which read: "Firstly, Iain has never had attention on money he earns. Why don't we like women earning money?

"I b***dy wish I earned what was written in the press! I only get paid on days I work."

Pulling another face, Laura gestured at another critical comment which read: "She should be sacked she's never in there!"

Hitting back, Laura wrote: "It's the same EVERY YEAR! This story is exhausting.

"Producers can mix up WHEN I go in as a surprise."

She then laughed as another critical comment popped up. It read: "She's so boring. Why doesn't she ask more? What's with all the pauses!?"

"DRAMA baby," Laura wrote back. "If I wasn't on hosting duties with time limits, I'd love full on banter.

"But I can't. I need to stay as impartial as possible and trust the process.

"Last year with social distancing I couldn't even give them a hug! And I'm a hugger."

Laura then shared one final comment she recieves from critics, which read: "You're too old for love island. You have a child now."

Giggling, she held her arms in the air as the words: "I don't plan to date the islanders! I'm the HOST," popped up on screen.

She added: "Age means experience and it's a privilege".
