Luca Bish shares snap with his little best mate after Gemma Owen split

Love Island’s Luca Bish has shared an adorable snap of his “little best mate” following his split from Gemma Owen.

Fishmonger Luca was initially paired with Paige Thorne on the ITV2 show but soon hit it off with the daughter of footballer Michael Owen.

But sadly, the romance was not to be outside the villa, and despite coming in second behind Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti, Gemma and Luca split in November.

And Luca, who recently got a new puppy called Axel, took to his Instagram on Monday night to share some new adorable snaps posing with his "little best mate".

“Little best mate,” the reality TV star captioned the post, earning him nearly 90k likes.

“Now that’s cute,” wrote one fan, with another adding, “Wow that's the genuine smile I was missing. So happy.”

Andrew Le Page, who was coupled up with Tasha Ghouri on the show with their romance still going strong, wrote “Cutie”, to which Luca responded with, “Medium sized best mate.”

It comes after Gemma took to Instagram to announce their split last month, where she admitted that the breakup "wasn't an easy decision".

She wrote: "To all my followers, I wanted to let you know that Luca and I are no longer in a relationship. It wasn't an easy decision but ultimately this is what is best for us both right now."

"Many of you have been on this journey with us from the beginning, and I wanted to thank you for your continued support as we start our new chapters,” she added.

Meanwhile, Luca said: "Switched my phone back on after taking some time out to clear my head after an emotional afternoon to thousands of messages and news articles about my breakup."

Luca then asked fans for some time, which prompted his break from social media, and insisted that he and Gemma would remain friends.

Shaughna Phillips, who was paired with now-ex Callum Jones during her time on the winter series of Love Island, spoke exclusively to OK! about Luca and Gemma’s split, dubbing it “horrible.”

“Obviously every split is horrible – especially one in the public eye,” she said.

"I just wish them both the best in the future."

A source later told OK! that Gemma was the one to end things and didn’t come as a shock, despite what fans first thought.

They told us: “It was Gemma who ended things. Things had been rocky for weeks and the split didn’t come as a shock.

"It had been going on for weeks and they had brushed over things and then they went to Dubai and nothing really changed so things came to an end."
