Lucy Mecklenburgh reassures fans: I had Covid vaccine before falling pregnant

Reality star, Lucy Mecklenburgh has reassured worried fans that she had no issues falling pregnant after getting the Covid vaccine.

The former The Only Way is Essex star popped a question box on her Instagram stories to allow her 1.7 million followers to ask her anything about her life, days after Lucy announced she was pregnant with her second child with fiancé Ryan Thomas.

Several fans were keen to know about whether the 30 year old TV personality had taken the COVID-19 vaccine before or after getting pregnant. Various false claims about the Covid vaccine have circulated online, leading to concerns among young women.

One concerned fan asked Lucy: “Have you had the Covid jab and fallen pregnant easily?”

The mother of one responded: “I have had many questions on this in my DM’s. Yes I had one covid vaccine before conceiving.

“I’m getting my second today so was waiting until I felt a little better. I’m not a medical professional but I have 8 friends pregnant at the moment and they’re all vaccinated.”

The World Health Organisation continues to review the effects of the vaccines, but there are no safety concerns about pregnant women having the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.

Pregnant women are also encouraged to have a second dose of the vaccine as the virus has made some women become seriously unwell if they've caught it later into their pregnancy.

Lucy welcomed her first child, Roman, in March 2020 with the former ITV soap actor who is known for his role as Jason Grimshaw on Coronation Street.

A source told OK! that the reality star would love her next child to be a little girl.

The source disclosed that Lucy has loved being a stepmother to Ryan’s daughter, Scarlett, 13, who he shares with his ex-partner and fellow Corrie actor, Tina O’Brien. So much so, that they’d love to welcome another girl into the family.

They explained: “Ryan has a son and a daughter so he isn’t worried about the sex. But Lucy wants a girl to complete family after enjoying being a stepmother to Scarlett."

Lucy announced her pregnancy in a stunning Instagram post, where she cradled her small baby bump and loving looked at Roman who has adopted the same pose as he holds his own belly.

She simply captured the beautiful photo, “Here we go again,” with a love heart emoji and tagged her 37 year old fiancé, Ryan.

The couple announced their first pregnancy in August last year on Lucy’s birthday, she called it the “best birthday present ever”.

The loved-up pair also shared a heart-warming video of the moment they told Scarlett the happy news that she was going to be a big sister.
