MAFS UK's Morag Crichton claims bosses 'SET UP' a huge row

‘I knew what they were trying to do’: MAFS UK’s Morag Crichton claims bosses ‘SET UP’ a huge row during filming and says she only survived the show as she was ‘drunk the whole time’

Married At First Sight UK has returned to screens and with only two episodes in, there’s already been plenty of drama as one new bride has already cheated on her husband during their honeymoon.

However, star of last year’s series Morag Crichton – who was married to Luke Dawson –  has made a sensational claim about her own season, revealing that producers set up the moment that led to a huge fight between the couples.

In a candid new interview, the veterinary nurse, 32, also admitted that the only reason she survived the show is was because she was ‘drunk the whole time’, having spent her food allowance on booze.

Fans of the show will remember when Morag confessed during a game of Never Have I Ever that fellow bride Amy Christopher’s husband Josh Christie had slid into her DMs prior to the show.

And though Morag revealed the truth to Amy, she’s now claimed that she didn’t want to reveal that bombshell and had previously told a producer that she befriended in confidence.

She told how she ‘jokingly’ told a producer about Josh after realising who he was when they joined the show, and didn’t believe that her reveal would come back to ‘haunt’ her later in the programme.

It was only weeks later when she began to ‘forget’ that she spilled the beans to the producer, that the question ‘Never have I ever been DM-ed by one of the other husbands’ came up on one of the cards during a game, leaving the Essex native furious.

She ranted to The Sun: ‘I was like, “you f****rs, oh my God that’s so bad”. They made it look like I just came out with it at the table, but actually when it came up, I didn’t drink, to avoid a situation.

‘I knew what they were trying to do, and I was like, I’m not giving you that. But then there was a massive debate amongst the girls, like, “This has been put here for a reason,” so I had to own up and tell them.’

As well as causing tensions during the games, Morag’s reveal later sparked a huge row at the final dinner party, with the blonde branding Josh a ‘f***** liar’ for failing to remember he slid into her DMs.

Josh’s wife Amy stormed out of the dinner after screaming at Morag, while Ant Poole branded her an ‘attention seeker’ just looking for drama.

Meanwhile, Morag went on to confess that she was ‘drunk’ most days while filming, joking that it was the only way she could survive the show, adding that she often enjoyed boozy FaceTimes with her pals on her iPad that she’d snuck into her apartment.

She also revealed her and then-husband Luke gorged on ‘two to three takeaways a day’, adding that producers always knew to turn up with a takeaway coffee because she ‘did not operate otherwise’.

During her interview, the animal lover admitted that she found it ‘really difficult’ to watch how she was portrayed on the show and was even forced to stop watching for the sake of her mental health.

She said: ‘You can only watch yourself be painted out to be someone you’re not for so long. Eighty per cent of conversations aren’t shown. I’m not someone who’s like “I didn’t come out with that, it’s editing”, but what producers do take out is context.’

She told the way things were portrayed on TV made her look like a ‘complete b***h’, adding that if there were any opportunities in which she was ‘actually being nice’, it wasn’t aired at it didn’t ‘meet their narrative’.

But despite this experience, Morag looked back on her appearance on the show as a ‘blessing’, telling how it was a unique opportunity for people to ‘really see themselves in a different light’, both good and bad, and reflect on how that can work on that in the future.
