Coronation Street actress Maggie Fox has died following a "sudden accident", her heartbroken comedy partner has announced.
Maggie appeared in ITV soap Corrie in four different roles throughout her acting career, but was known most notably on the soap as Ruth Audsley.
The actress also appeared in the soap in 2010 as Judge Travers. She had a number of roles in other shows, including Shameless where she appeared as a registrar.
Maggie's tragic passing was announced by her heartbroken comedy partner Sue on Facebook.
She explained how Maggie's loved ones were in a "state of shock" as her passing was "sudden".
The statement shared on Lip Service Theatre’s Facebook page, read: “It is with great sadness that I have to announce the death of Maggie Fox, my comedy partner of 40 years and co-Artistic Director of LipService. Maggie passed away yesterday with her family around her.
"Consequently the Spring Tour of Chateau Ghoul has been cancelled. As you can imagine I am completely heartbroken."
