Mark Wright apologises after furious backlash over him dressing as rapper Tekashi 69

Mark Wright has apologised for dressing as rapper Tekashi 69 for Halloween after he received a furious backlash online over the costume.

The former TOWIE star was met with angry comments from fans after dressing as the American rapper due to the rapper's previous child sex crime charges, but has apologised, saying he "wasn't aware" of his offences.

Mark posted the apology on his Instagram story after deleting a previous photo he'd posted showing himself dressed as the rapper with multicoloured hair and fake tattoos.

The full apology reads: "My apologies for last night's Halloween picture. I only knew about Tekashi 6ix9ine's music and not about his offences. Had I known, it would not have been my choice of costume."

OK! has contacted Mark Wright's rep for comment.

Unimpressed fans had previously criticised Mark's Halloween costume, which led him to later deleting the post.

One person wrote on Twitter: "Feel like this is a massive own goal by Mark Wright".

Another added: "As if Mark Wright dressed up as 6ix9ine. Where has he been for his endless court appearances? Not sure he could have missed it tbh…."

Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine (pronounced 'six-nine') has been the subject of numerous legal issues over the years, with some of his previous convictions including conspiracy to commit murder, armed robbery and use of a child in a sexual performance.

Meanwhile Mark Wright recently gave fans an insight into him and wife Michelle Keegan's "forever home" which the couple are currently renovating in Essex.

The property has taken over a year to build due to Covid restrictions halting construction, but it's looking to soon be ready as Mark and Michelle have reportedly sold and moved out of their old home.

The couple have even started their own Instagram for the house – @wrightyhome – where they regularly post house building updates to their 300k followers.
