Countryfile star Matt Baker, 43, quit The One Show after nine years last year and has since been giving fans an insight into his life on the farm. The presenter lives in Hertfordshire with his wife Nicola and their two children Luke and Molly.

Discussing his latest programme this morning, Matt was asked about his future on Countryfile.

The farmer has been a regular presenter on the BBC programme since 2009.

On his future plans, he spilled: “I’m certainly continuing with Countryfile but with this [show], I want my family to know what it feels like and follow the whole process of actually being on tele and making a tele show.

“When everybody has experienced the whole thing then we’ll sit back and think, where do we go from here?”

Matt has also since launched his own production company and revealed he is “excited’ about creating future projects.

The father-of-two said his son Luke had also got involved with filming Countryfile during lockdown.

“Luke had filmed things himself with the camera, he was the cameraman,” he continued to Zoe Ball on her BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show.

With this, Matt’s son continued showcasing his camera skills for their new series.

Our Farm in the Dales is a documentary which focuses on the presenter and his family “reshaping” their farm.

It comes after Matt’s mum Janice, 65, was seriously injured after being trampled on by sheep.

Janice was hospitalised and had to undergo a knee replacement.

With this, Matt launched the show which gives fans an insight into the family making their farm a better and more safer place.

The presenter said with this, his mum and dad could continue the lifestyle they love so much.

“It’s more of a documentary than it is anything else. It’s not me presenting it in the same way I do Countryfile,” he explained.

“This programme… it was never a pitch, it was never an idea saying I want to make a show about this, that or the other.

“It evolved because of the situation we found ourselves in as a family.

“It’s incredibly real, it’s very emotional it’s a family thing that lots of families go through, it just so happens to be set on the backdrop of our farm.”

Matt tends to keep his family life out of the public eye, but revealed they didn’t mind being on camera for his latest project.

He went on to say: “The kids have grown up in this world of TV, they’ve seen it all so it’s a very familiar world to them and so it didn’t feel odd at all.”

Countryfile continues Sunday at 6pm on BBC One, while Our Farm in the Dales launches Wednesday at 9pm on More4.
