While appearing on ITV’s Lorraine, Matt Lucas showcased a more slimmed-down frame as he discussed the 50th anniversary of the Mr Men books. The 47-year-old also teased the latest news surrounding the new season of The Great British Bake Off.
I’ve lost some weight, I needed to take the edge off, because I put on a lot of weight in lockdown.

The former Little Britain actor announced that he and former co-star David Walliams were working on an “idea”, but have not yet pitched their idea to production companies.
Ahead of the latest season of Bake Off, which Matt says is “starting very soon”, he confirmed that himself, as well as the crew and cast, had formed a bubble to adhere to the current coronavirus guidelines.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, social distancing guidelines are still in place but those involved will isolate themselves together to be able to be close to one another.
Those working on Bake Off will be required to self-isolate as well as carry out regular coronavirus tests on themselves.
However, it was his svelte frame that left viewers completely stunned while his interview was broadcast across the nation.
Addressing the elephant in the room, Lorraine said: “How on earth though, have you been in lockdown and working on Bake Off and you’ve lost tonnes of weight?”
Grinning as Lorraine complimented him, Matt said: “I’ve lost some weight, I needed to take the edge off, because I put on a lot of weight in lockdown.”
Lorraine quipped: “Oh I have, I think lots of people have.”
Going on to discuss his weight loss further, Matt said: “I just had to do something about it.”
“Yeah, just not eat as much and move around a wee bit more, that’s kind of what you have to do” added Lorraine.
Acknowledging his journey, Matt added: “I’ve still got a bit of a tum, I’ve got a little bit of a tum, I’m not a skinny minnie.”
To which Lorraine added: “No, but then you would look daft if you were, it wouldn’t be you.”
Matt admitted that ahead of the new Bake Off season, he was planning to participate in more sketches.
Speaking of one that saw him emerge from a Cherry Bakewell, he said: “We’re trying to do more sketches like that.
“Before the show starts we try and do a funny thing each week.
“We’re dressing up more and more this year.”
In April 2020, Matt revealed that he was keen to “get fit” during lockdown after believing he had gained weight.
Appearing on Lorraine last year, he said: “The one thing I need to do is get fitter, I have put on a little bit of weight, that’s my next challenge to do a bit more exercise.
“I might have to make a game of it when I go out an exercise to stay out of people’s way. I don’t have a garden so I have to find a way to do that.”
Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
