My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way recently took to Instagram to announce that he will be appearing at a virtual mental health awareness event, “Unwound & Unplugged,” on March 2.

The online event, which is presented by the Sound Mind Live charity organization and the National Day of Unplugging initiative, looks to “promote a community of support around experiences related to mental health, isolation and the healing power of creativity and connection.”

Gerard will be joining guests including Julien Baker and DeathbyRomy at the virtual concert and panel that will stream on Sound Mind Live’s Facebook page and YouTube from 5 pm PST/ 8 pm EST on Tuesday.

“I’m excited to speak at Unwound & Unplugged, presented by Sound Mind Live and National Day Of Unplugging, coming up on March 2!” said Gerard. “This virtual mental health concert and panel brings together myself, Julien Baker and DeathbyRomy to promote a community of support around experiences related to mental health, isolation and the healing power of creativity and connection.

He added, “I know that it’s a really tough time for everyone right now. Coming together as a community and speaking openly about mental health is more relevant than ever.”
