Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had an intruder on their Montecito property twice during the holiday season last year. Meghan and Harry revealed that they receive death threats, which is why they’ve made it a priority to keep their family safe in America. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that a 37-year-old man named Nickolas Brooks was caught trespassing on their estate on Christmas Eve, but that Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s officers let him off with a warning.
Two days later, he trespassed again and was arrested before being charged with one count of misdemeanor trespassing. According to Variety, Meghan and Harry spent $14.65 million on their 7.4-acre compound. So, there’s a lot of land to cover, which is why having security is v important.

During Meghan and Harry’s tell-all interview with Oprah, Harry explained why working with big brands like Netflix and Spotify is a good option for them. “For my perspective, all I needed was enough money to pay for security to keep my family safe,” he explained.
Meghan and Harry were living in L.A., before moving to Montecito. The small community in Santa Barbara County, Calif. gives them more privacy than they had before. “Meghan visited Montecito in her teens and fell in love with the picturesque scenery and stunning architecture,” a source told Us Weekly. “Moving there was always an option, but to begin with, she and Harry wanted to give Los Angeles a shot.”
The insider continued, “Montecito is only just over an hour’s drive from L.A., which is where a majority of their work is based, yet far enough away to escape the crowds, paparazzi, and tourism in Hollywood.”
Sounds like a perfect (and hopefully safe) place for Meghan and Harry to raise and Archie and their little one on the way!
