Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have continued their NYC tour with a visit to the United Nations.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex met with U.N. Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed today during the 193-member world body’s annual gathering of leaders, the U.N. General Assembly. The visit occurred ahead of the couple’s appearance at the Global Citizen Live event, their first major joint appearance since leaving behind royal life.
For the meeting, Duchess Meghan brought back her Max Mara camel coat, which she wore at the pair’s Thursday meeting with U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield at her apartment. In photographs, which you can see here, she wears the coat with a light-brown collared shirt, matching wide-leg trousers, and tan pointed-toe heels.
As the couple left the building, Duchess Megan told reporters, “It was a lovely meeting.”
The Sussexes have attended several diplomatic and service events since landing in New York earlier this week. They joined New York Governor Kathy Hochul and New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio and his family at the One World Observatory in Manhattan Thursday. On Friday morning they visited P.S. 123 Mahalia Jackson School students in Harlem, where Meghan read her children’s book, The Bench, to a group of second graders.
BAZAAR can confirm that Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s speech at Global Citizen Live will call on world leaders to ensure that everyone, everywhere has access to the COVID-19 vaccine. Through their Archewell foundation, the couple has partnered with Global Citizen to work on equitable global vaccine distribution
“This partnership has been raising awareness about vaccine inequity, supporting vaccine dose sharing, reducing COVID-19 misinformation, and improving public-private collaboration,” reads the Archewell website.
