Meghan Markle has recorded an audio version of her debut children’s book, The Bench, to accompany her book launch on Tuesday.

The Duchess of Sussex, 39, was inspired by the blossoming father-son relationship between her husband Prince Harry, 36, and her two year old son Archie.

The idea for the book originally came from a poem Meghan wrote for her loving husband to mark his first Father’s Day as a parent.

The 34-page book gives readers an insight into the couple’s new family life in the US with illustrations by Christian Robinson of the father and son spotted feeding the chickens similar to the mother-of-two's family home in LA.

Customers have been able to pre-order the highly-anticipated book for months via Amazon and the WH Smith website, which has made it the number one bestseller on the online store.

Meghan, who has revealed the eco-conscious couple will not be having anymore children, dedicated her first novel to the two most important men in her life, which was reproduced from a hand-written note.

It read: “For the man and the boy who make my heart go pump-pump.”

The book features adorable illustrations of a Prince Harry lookalike holding hands with his son and stretching together in ballet tutus.

It even features baby Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor prior to her birth with an illustration of Meghan cradling little Lili in her arms while she tended to a vegetable patch with two dogs.

The Duchess sent out copies of her book to close members of her friends and family prior to the launch including photographer Gray Malin who shared the lovely handwritten note from Meghan.

In the inside cover of the book over the top of an illustration of her doting husband, Meghan wrote: “From one parent to another – all my love from my family to yours. As ever, Meghan,” which he shared on his Instagram stories.

Meghan, who reportedly made "private calls" to Kate Middleton to help repair royal feud, explained how she worked closely with her illustrator to show the special bond between a father and son which would be inclusive to all different types of families.

She said: “The Bench started as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father’s Day, the month after Archie was born. That poem became this story.

“Christian layered in beautiful and ethereal watercolour illustrations that capture the warmth, joy and comfort of the relationship between fathers and sons from all walks of like.

“This representation was particularly important to me and Christian and I worked closely to depict this special bond through an inclusive lens.

“My hope is that The Bench resonates with every family, no matter the make up, as much as it does with me.”
