Meghan Markle takes swipe at Royal Family over Instagram policies

Meghan Markle sat down with US glossy magazine The Cut and has made a number of bombshell revelations including a statement that she was not allowed control over her own social media presence while a senior Royal Family member.

Meghan has been in the spotlight ever since she met Prince Harry, and has been the subject of major controversy after the couple relinquished their royal duties.

Before opening up about some of the restrictive lifestyle aspects when it comes to being a royal and having the freedom over her socials, Meghan told the magazine: "I'm like, so excited to talk."

The royal went on to explain how some of the standard practice left her worried for her children.

Reportedly, Meghan was told to join an already run royal account that we should have no control over. It was one that Kate Middleton, Prince Harry and Prince William were already part of.

She said: "There’s literally a structure by which if you want to release photos of your child, as a member of the family, you first have to give them to the Royal Rota."

The Duchess of Sussex then explained that sometimes photos of her own children would be released even before she had to chance a post any herself, something that worried Meghan given the already tense relationship between her and the British press.

She continued: "Why would I give the very people that are calling my children the N-word a photo of my child before I can share it with the people that love my child?

"You tell me how that makes sense and then I’ll play that game."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex officially made a point of removing themselves from the Royal Rota during Megxit in 2020.

On their official media page, it is written: "The Duke and Duchess have chosen to revise their media policy to reflect both their forthcoming change as members of the Royal Family with financial independence, and their wish to reshape and broaden access to their work."

Harry and Meghan have since gone on to live their own life in California, having originally moving to Canada when they first left the UK.

Meghan has released a new podcast called "Archetypes". The first episode featured all-time tennis legend, Serena Williams. There are reports that the Royal Family are apprehensive of what Meghan might divulge on the podcast and the interview with US magazine, The Cut, is evidence that the Duchess of Sussex is willing to be outspoken.
