Meghan Markle to join Prince Harry at Invictus Games after missing Philip memorial

Meghan Markle is said to be planning to join her husband Prince Harry at the Invictus Games in Holland.

The couple's arrival in Europe will come as a huge surprise to many if it goes ahead, as the pair decided not to come back to the UK for Prince Philip's memorial service at Westminster Abbey this month.

But according to reports, both the Duke, 37, and Duchess of Sussex, 40, who were reportedly "not invited" to Brooklyn Beckham's wedding at the weekend, will be attending the opening ceremony in The Hague on Saturday, April 16.

The games, which started off as Harry's passion project for wounded servicemen and women, has become one of the most praised and lauded sports competitions in the world.

The couple's appearance at the opening ceremony, which has been reported by The Sun, will mark their first time in Europe together since they stepped down from their roles as senior members of the royal family more than two years ago.

What's more, Meghan hasn't returned to the UK since she flew across the pond back in March 2020.

Her departure followed the Commonwealth Day Ceremony with the rest of the Royal family, which in turn came after the Duke and Duchess had spent Christmas with son Archie, two, at a stunning cabin in Vancouver Canada.

When Harry and Meghan left the UK once more in March, they settled down in California, first staying at Hollywood star Tyler Perry's mansion before gradually buying their own beachfront property in Montecito.

The pair's move also came just before the whole world locked down over the coronavirus pandemic.

But despite the couple's controversial move and the timing of their decision to leave the firm, many in the UK assumed Meghan would fly back with Prince Harry every time he returned to the UK.

Instead, the Duchess opted to remain in the US during both his trips home for Prince Philip's funeral in April 2021, and unveiling of his mother Princess Diana's statue with brother Prince William in July.

While Meghan was heavily pregnant during her husband's first visit and taking care of newborn baby Lilibet the second time, her absence from any official royal occasions over the last two years has been glaring.

What's more, the Queen, 95, is said to be desperate to finally meet her latest great-granddaughter, who will celebrate her first birth in June.

Reports of Harry and Meghan's imminent travel to Holland comes as the former continues to battle the UK government in a legal row over his police protection.

The Duke recently claimed he didn't feel safe to bring his family to the UK without the assurance of protection from officers.
