This week, pictures emerged of Boris Johnson, 57, drinking wine with his wife Carrie and civil servants when social mixing was restricted. At the time, only a two-metre-distance with only one other person from a different household was allowed.

Michael Sheen has called for the Prime Minister to resign as he slammed his morals in a blistering rant this week.

He shared his views after an alleged “work meeting” involving wine and cheese took place in May 2020.

The actor claimed Boris Johnson wasn’t using powerful position in the country to make people’s lives better.

“Everything is a game to him,” the 52-year-old ranted.

“He seems to have no personal ethics, morals, beliefs, value system.”

The Quiz star said he’d be “immensely happy to see the back of him not just from being prime minister but out of the political arena altogether”.

“I hope he goes off and finds a job that has no influence whatsoever on anything in our cultural, social or economic life. And good luck to him with that,” he added to The Independent.

The Government have continuously denied they broke rules at the garden party.

A spokesperson said: “On May 15, 2020 the Prime Minister held a series of meetings throughout the afternoon, including briefly with the then health and care secretary and his team in the garden following a press conference.

“The Prime Minister went to his residence shortly after 7pm.

“A small number of staff required to be in work remained in the Downing Street garden for part of the afternoon and evening.”

Labour’s deputy leader Angela Rayner said the picture was “a slap in the face of the British public”.

She went on to say he had “no regard for the rules he puts in place for the rest of us”.

When asked about the pictures today, Boris said: “Those were of people at work, talking about work.”

He went on to echo his words when asked why no laptops or folders were in sight.

“I really think it’s vital if we focus if we can on the messages we’re trying to get across today.

“We face a serious spike in Omicron.”

The Prime Minister went on to say he will not be enforcing restrictions as of yet despite a worrying rise in the new variant.

He told BBC News: “Unfortunately I must say to people that we will have to reserve the possibility of taking further action to protect the public, to protect public health, to protect our NHS.

“We won’t hesitate to take action. But, in the meantime, what I would say to everyone is please exercise caution as you go about your business.

“Please think about the guidance and protecting yourself and your loved ones and please get a booster.”
