Michelle Keegan left horrified as she finds maggot and its eggs in her peas

There's one way to put a healthy star off eating well – and that's the presence of bugs in their grub!

Stunning TV star Michelle Keegan jumped on her Instagram stories this weekend to show her 6.7 million followers how her healthy snack went horribly wrong, as she attempted to tuck into a fresh pea pod.

The 36-year-old was left horrified though when she discovered life inside the pod, in the form of a wriggling maggot, complete with a host of eggs ready to hatch.

The star was no doubt disgusted at the prospect of tucking in without paying attention and captioned her video with, 'I'm never eating peas out of a pod again!!!' followed by a feeling sick emoji and a little caterpillar in the absence of an available maggot one.

She continued to tell fans that the maggot had 'laid its eggs all over it as well' with peering eye emojis, emphasising her horror.

Michelle is a fan of healthy eating and is regularly spotted visiting her local gym to work out, sometimes alongside husband Mark Wright, who is also a die-hard fitness fan.

Earlier this month the star hit out at disgruntled body-shaming fans in a rare fit of rage after releasing her latest Very collection.

The brunette proudly shared a carousel of fashion images on her social media with her fans, captioning the series of snaps with, "If you know me you’d know I LOVE Summer, this is why I’ve been sooo excited for my new Summer collection to drop. Here is it."

But among the positive and excited comments from heaps of fans, one person was less than impressed and said: "You need to show this collection on a real size woman not a size 6", to which Michelle hit back: "you need to get off my page and stop writing such ignorant and offensive comments".

The 'fan' in question wasn't ready to give up without a fight though and asked: "how was that offensive ? Nice collection but like to see it on someone that's not a size 6". Michelle replied: "thank you for your comment. But I believe every woman any shape or size is a ‘real’ woman x".

Michelle received lots of support and praise from other fans though who congratulated and thanked the actress for her honest and real replies, with one saying: "I’m a size 6/8 but very much an alive and real woman, offensive to suggest otherwise. Wanting to see the clothes on someone your own size is one thing, but no need to dehumanise the women who aren’t the same as yourself."
