Miley Cyrus shared some sad news on Instagram. Her dog, and "best friend," Mary Jane has died after battling cancer.
Cyrus posted a video slideshow that included photos of Mary Jane set to a song that Cyrus wrote about her. In the caption, she penned a touching tribute to her pup.
"Mary Jane 5EVR," the singer wrote. "I wrote this song in Malibu years ago on a piano in a house that no longer exists. About my dog Mary Jane who is also gone now. A lot has changed over time. Mostly me."
She continued, "Music is my medicine. This song revolves around loss & heartache. Which I am currently experiencing after Mary Jane's passing. MJ was a true queen. She wore her grace, dignity & kindness like a crown. She will never be forgotten and will forever be missed. To know her is to love her. It has been my honor being her mom and best friend."

In the last few months, Cyrus has been open about just how much she's changed in the last year.
She revealed that she is sober, but fell off during the pandemic. "I don't have a problem with drinking. I have a problem with the decisions I make once I go past that level of […] Even into, I've just been wanting to wake up 100%, 100% of the time," she said in an interview on Apple Music's New Music Daily Radio With Zane Lowe. "I'm very disciplined. Yeah, very disciplined. That's why it's never easy, but it's pretty easy for me to be sober or in and out of sobriety because it's like the day I don't want to fucking do it anymore, I don't."
