Monty Don recently took to Twitter and shared a candid video of his beloved Jewel Garden in full bloom. The Gardeners’ World host shared the clip with his fans which showcased his stunning garden as many social media users gushed over the presenter’s surroundings.

However, one viewer, in particular, appeared to take issue with the video as they claimed his garden was not reflective of “90 per cent of his audience’s experience”.

While the social media user admitted Monty’s garden was “lovely” they explained they had been unable to plant anything in their own garden due to bad weather.

Their remark comes after the Gardeners’ World host penned in view of his 229,000 followers: “Between the showers in the Jewel Garden.”

The person in question wrote: “Lovely Monty but not I think 90 per cent of the audience’s experience. I am 60 miles from you. We last had a frost six days ago. Yesterday we had hail thunder and lightening and torrential washout rain. [sic]

“Not a shower. We have not planted yet. Please remember your garden in a parallel universe.”

Monty hit back at the social media user as he emphasised he was simply showcasing “my garden and weather”.

“Not sure what your point is. As it happened our showers were torrential – but that is not the point. I was sharing my garden and our weather – not trying to sum up all human experience,” Monty replied.

During the gardening expert’s candid video, he panned the camera down the length of the main path.

He continued to span the length of the section before his famous water piece that marks the centre of the section came into view.

A fan of the gardener took the opportunity to comment on Monty’s idyllic-looking garden.

“Beautiful, you are a lucky man,” they wrote.

Despite the presenter agreeing, Monty also keenly emphasised that his Herefordshire garden was also down to “hard work”.

He replied: “I am indeed – but it has taken 30 years hard work to make that luck…”

The Gardeners’ World fan responded: “Don’t doubt that for one moment… Just a positive comment from a fellow gardener…”

Monty and his wife Sarah moved to Longmeadow, in Herefordshire, the West Midlands, in 1991.

On his website, the professional gardener revealed that planning for the garden started two years after they moved into the property and “has never really ceased since”.

Monty has previously described the Jewel Garden as the “physical and spiritual centre of the entire garden”.

He also revealed that it was inspired in celebration of his and Sarah’s jewellery business in the 1980s with the tones of the garden mimicking the “brash, extravagant” colours of their jewellery.

Monty has also shared the plants which make up his two-acre garden, including sunflowers, gingers, dahlias, and zinnias.

Gardeners’ World airs Friday on BBC Two at 9pm.
