On Loose Women today, Nadia Sawalha, Brenda Edwards, Kaye Adams and Carol McGiffin discussed the difference between a friend and an acquaintance. During the chat, Carol said it’s likely they wouldn’t speak to each other if they didn’t have to work together, which seemingly surprised the others.

Nadia, 57, shared her thoughts and brought up being referred to as a “colleague” on Strictly Come Dancing last weekend.

While she and Kaye are colleagues, they are also very good friends away from the show.

The panellist said she travelled miles to support Kaye and her dance partner Kai Widdrington at the London studio.

Ranting about the moment on the show, she said: The other night on Strictly, I was so annoyed with them.

“I was screaming (for Kaye), I had travelled for miles across the trains and everything and then Claudia called me a colleague.”

Baffled by her annoyance, Carol chimed in: “Well you’re that as well as a friend.”

“No, but it’s so weird to be called a colleague when you’re a friend,” Nadia replied.

As Kaye and Kai waited for their scores on Saturday night, Claudia said: “Your lovely colleague Nadia is back in the audience supporting you, because I heard you say you can be really hard on yourself and she’s here to go, ‘No you are fantastic’.”

“Yes, she’s a cheerleader, I’m very grateful for her,” she replied as Nadia could be seen smiling in the audience.

The ex Strictly star went on to say she was happy that her friend didn’t bring a banner like she said she would.

Sadly for Kaye, she became the first celebrity to leave the competition last weekend.

The journalist faiied to win over three of the four judges in a dance off against Matt Goss and his partner Nadiya Bychkova.

After the show, she said she “panicked” in the dance off and regretted not being able to give it her all.

Speaking on Instagram, Kaye continued: “Obviously I’m gutted at myself that I panicked in that dance off.

“I just panicked. And, I’ve seen a few comments saying I looked like a rabbit in headlights and they’re right, I was.”

She went on to say: “So that is really annoying. Kai tried so hard to say, ‘Come on, we can do this’ and I just wasn’t able to bring it.

“So, I do regret that but I do not regret signing up for Strictly despite my early exit.

“I’ve learned so many things and I met so many wonderful people that I will definitely come out of this stronger.”

Kaye went on to say she also had a new bra collection after being fitted backstage and a personalised dressing gown she was happy to keep.

Strictly COme Dancing continues Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One. Loose Women airs daily at 12.30pm on ITV.
