Neil Jones, 39, has shared how he warned new Strictly Come Dancing professional Jowita Przystal that she could receive online abuse during her debut on the dance contest this year. The former Britain’s Got Talent contestant has appeared on the BBC series since 2016 and is now a household name from his time on the programme.

Just ignore it

Neil shared how his rise to fame also coincided with him receiving some negative remarks online from followers who try to “get his attention”.

Opening up on nasty social media comments, Neil shared with Express.co.uk: “You start realising it over time that a lot of the people that are doing that, it’s purely because they can hide behind the computer so they can just say something and disappear. “

However, he is fiercely protective of his Strictly co-stars and has already had a conversation with newcomer Jowita about what to expect when she begins appearing on the show later this year.

He shared: “I am insane with some of the new pros and Jowita is one of my friends with Michael (Danilczuk) we have our own podcast together.

“I just said to her like, ‘Look, with anything you get, just ignore it. If you don’t know people, just ignore it, because that’s how you’re going to get stuff like that.

“‘And if anything, if you do want to reply, just always reply back with love, just love and happiness because normally what they’re asking for is attention’.

“And when you come back and you say, ‘Oh, that’s cool, don’t worry. Have a nice day’.

“They normally come back and say, ‘Oh, sorry, I didn’t mean it in that way. You know, I just wanted you to reply’. Yeah. That’s why they do it.”

Jowita auditioned for the role alongside her boyfriend and dance partner Michael – but sadly he did not land a place as one of the professional dancers.

Despite Michael’s sadness, he has been supporting his girlfriend, and following the announcement he surprised her with 19 pink roses.

“19 roses….it means ‘love you forever’. From my baby specially for season 19th of Strictly Come Dancing!

“Thank you @michael_danilczuk I couldn’t achieve it without you, and massive THANK YOU to you all for your support and for your kind messages.

“I’m over the moon with love I’m receiving right now… my gratitude has no end! Xxx,” she captioned the sweet post.

Michael also took to his Instagram to pay tribute to Jowita. “I am super proud of You @jowitaprzystal.

“You are the most hardworking person on this planet and I know you will be outstanding. I know how much this means to you.”

The couple won The Greatest Dancer together last year after being mentored by Strictly’s Oti Mabuse.

Meanwhile, Neil has co-created a new dance to celebrate public space in his neighbourhood, Wembley Park.

The 39-year-old has created a catchy routine with TikTok stars Marlon “Swoosh” Wallen and Kieran Lai entitled #TheOlympicStep

The #OlympicStep features 48 dance steps – in honour of the 48 steps that make up the Olympic Steps – Wembley Stadium’s elegant new entrance.

Neil said: “As someone who lives in Wembley Park, I get how exciting this new space is. I wanted to be a part of celebrating that and I wanted to do it in a way that meant anyone can get involved. That’s why Swoosh, Kieran and I created the #OlympicStep – a feel-good and easy way to celebrate the area’s legacy and champion the diversity that makes it so great.”
