Nick Kyrgios’ girlfriend Costeen Hatzi was rushed straight from her plane to emergency care in Mexico last month when she became seriously ill with a kidney infection.
Recalling the horrifying ordeal on Thursday, the psychology degree graduate, 22, said she ‘had a fever on the flight’ and the next minute she ended up in the ER.
Despite the ‘scary’ experience, she told her Instagram followers she made a full recovery and was cared for by the ‘tennis association and hospital staff’.

‘I was so sick in hospital I didn’t get to see much of Mexico!’ she wrote in a Q&A when a fan asked how her trip last month went.
‘I had a fever on the flight and ended up going straight to emergency when we landed. I had a kidney infection.
‘Luckily the tennis association and hospital staff were so extremely caring & helpful. But it was a little scary being so sick in a whole different country. The tacos were amazing though.’

Kyrgios, 27, and his girlfriend were in Mexico where the tennis star was playing against Norrie in the Tennis Showdown exhibition event – he won the match.
The pair became an item in December last year after he split with long-time girlfriend Chiara Passari.
In July, the lovebirds confirmed they will try for a baby next year.

During an Instagram Q&A, Kyrgios was asked a baby question and replied with a picture of the pair on the beach captioned ‘next year’ alongside a ring emoji.
Engagement rumours circulated about the couple in May after another Q&A showed the tennis ace hugging the former interior designer with the caption, ‘Very soon,’ alongside heart and ring emojis.
However, Kyrgios’ management soon denied the pair were engaged.
