Nicola McLean says Im A Celebs Charlene deserved to go as she slams RV snub

Nicola McLean has admitted she thinks I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star Charlene White "deserved to go" after hearing her exit interview.

Former glamour model Nicola, 41, starred in the jungle back in 2008, and she said she didn't like Charlene's exit interview, claiming the Loose Women presenter's words were "bulls**t".

Journalist Charlene, 42, was seen refusing to sleep in the RV with Matt Hancock because she was worried being too friendly with the former health secretary could impact her career.

Speaking to campmate and Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver, Charlene shared: "I’m an impartial journalist, I can’t be sharing a room with a sitting MP because that just doesn’t sit well with me impartiality-wise. And I just think if he were ever to become a minister again how can I sit and question him about anything when I’ve shared a room with him?"

Sue, 59, replied: “It’s very, very tricky.” And in the Bush Telegraph, the soap star explained: “I absolutely see her point.

"When Charlene was talking about having to have impartiality being a newsreader it made total sense to me why it wouldn’t be great for her to be in an RV with Matt. Awkward.”

When the star was asked to describe how she felt when Matt controversially entered the camp in her interview after coming out of the jungle, Charlene said: "I was shocked when he walked in but also not shocked.

"Being there and having a laugh and having a joke – that kind of finished when Matt came. Because I have interviewed enough of the families who have lost loved ones during the pandemic.

"I am one of those. As soon as he walked in I thought, ‘I’m going to be walking a tightrope here.'"

Speaking of her interview after leaving camp, Nicola told the Daily Star: "Charlene deserved it and I really hate her exit interview which she came out with it’s a load of bulls***."

"She should have slept in the RV, she should have told Matt what she really thought, she said he ruined her jungle experience for her.

"It didn’t seem like that, hun, because you seemed really pally. She deserved to go."

Nicola later claimed she wasn't being horrible and likes Charlene, but added that it was her time to go.

"She said she was worried about her job when she left but you have been true to yourself and if she presented herself well everyone would have understood whereas he [Mr Hancock] has not been held accountable at all," the star continued.

Charlene was the first person to be voted out of I'm A Celeb this year after she found herself in the bottom two with Sue.

I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! airs everyday on ITV at 9pm.
