Gary Lineker, 61, admitted he was close to tears after an unearthed video was shared to celebrate his birthday today, that showed his father. His dad, Barry Lineker, used to have a stall in Leicester’s Market and the ex footballer and his brother Wayne Lineker used to help out on occasions.
Now you’ve set me off.

ProjectFootball posted the throwback clip on Twitter with the caption: “Happy Birthday @GaryLineker!
“Here’s some lovely footage of a very young Gary helping out his did at Leicester Market.”
In the footage Gary could be seen working on his dad’s fruit and veg stall, that he’d had for more than 40 years.
The video also saw his dad asked if his famous offspring was any good at selling.
Barry responded: “I think he can be if he wants to be but it’s too early in the morning for him.”
In response to the kind hearted video, Gary wrote: “Ahhhh my dad.(sic)
“Now you’ve set me off. Miss him.”
Fans rushed to the comments to wish happy birthday to the Match of the Day star and commemorate the ex-footballer’s father.
Lizp30 penned: “I bought mushrooms from him once. Lovely man. Happy birthday Gary!”
Former Spurs player Ramon Vega commented: “Mate too early for you in the morning.
“Your dad is spot on. Bless him.”
MattCosentino wrote: “He clearly did a great job raising you (aside from the toilet training). Happy Birthday!”
Barry unfortunately passed away in 2017, with Gary announcing his dad’s death on Twitter.
He wrote: “Deeply saddened to tell you of the passing of my dad.
“A special person, a popular man & a wonderful father.
“Will miss him greatly. RIP Dad.”
In 2013 Gary and his father returned to the market for a Walkers advert, where they visited different sites in the UK in a camper van.
Talking to the Express in 2013, he said: “Going back to the market where he used to work brought back lots of childhood memories for me and I reckon seeing him slogging away was one of the things that motivated me to get into sport.”
Gary said previously that a photo that was taken as part of the Walkers campaign was his favourite of him with his father.
