Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse found herself in the firing line after discussing coronavirus during a recent television appearance. The star was appearing on BBC’s Morning Live when she spoke about the rapid increase in confirmed cases.
Hey I have mine just waiting second one and in my area is a queue.

Oti, 30, is no stranger to the spotlight having appeared in Strictly since 2015 and has gone on to lift the famous Glitterball trophy on two occasions.
Since becoming a household name on the popular BBC competition, Oti has amassed thousands of social media followers who tune in for updates on her life.
Now, the star has taken to presenting, appearing on BBC’s Morning Live opposite Gethin Jones — stepping in for former singer, Kym Marsh.
As she read Thursday’s top news stories, Oti revealed that a study believes the Euro 2020 championships could be linked to the rising numbers of Covid positive people across England.
She said: “It’s not all good news, today, we’re hearing that watching the Euros may be behind the rise in covid infections among men.
“Doctor Xand [van Tulleken] has the latest on that.”
However, moments after the clip aired across the network, one viewer was disgruntled to hear Oti hadn’t been “proactive” in receiving her vaccine for the virus.
The angry viewer tweeted: “Just heard @OtiMabuse discussing with @xandvt about younger people not yet being offered a jab.
“Why hasn’t she been proactive and gone to one of the walk in jab centres?”
They added: “Surely in her public role, she should consider influencing others like her by doing this?”
After spotting the message, Oti responded: “Hey I have mine just waiting second one and in my area is a queue. Hope you have a lovely day. [sic]”
Speaking about the virus, Oti said to Doctor Xand: “We’re hearing a lot about of people at the moment say we almost have to live with it, like the flu, but this is very different,” to which Xand agreed with Oti.
Discussing the study, Doctor Xand said: “If I think of my night last night [Wednesday], jumping up and down, screaming in each other’s faces.
“You can open a window but it’s not going to reduce it, the only way to stop covid in these situations is if there isn’t much covid around.”
He continued: “We’re looking at a summer of very very covid transmissions, so if you’re at risk — you’re going to have to avoid situations like that.”
Xand went on to reveal that there are still thousands who are yet to be vaccinated, Oti confirmed that she hadn’t been offered her vaccine.
“It’s not a perfect roll out and uptake is not perfect,” explained Dr Xand.
The medical practitioner urged those wanting to attend large gatherings to have the available vaccines.
Oti will tonight appear on episode one of ITV’s Rolling in It, alongside Sarah Millican and Martin Kemp.
The South African born star will play alongside a member of the public who could change their lives with the roll of a coin.
Contestants will play a giant arcade game, reliving their childhood as they play for significant amounts of money.
Rolling In It airs tonight at 7pm on ITV.
