Our Favorite Beauty Looks From the Oscars This Year

Despite more than a year of COVID-19 completely throwing award shows for a loop, the 93rd Academy Awards attempted to make people forget about all that, allowing presenters, nominees, and their guests to attend in person at the two Los Angeles-based locations. The competition definitely looks promising and fierce with all the amazing Oscars nominations.

Drama film Mank leads the night with 10 nominations. Mank's lead Gary Oldman and Steven Yeun fight for Best Actor in a Lead Role alongside the late Chadwick Boseman who received a posthumous nomination for starring in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. On the other side, Viola Davis, Frances McDormand, and Carey Mulligan are in the running for Best Actress in a Lead Role.

But, of course, we here at Allure are most excited about how the in-person ceremony increases the potential for breath-taking beauty moments, especially with red carpet beauty masters, like Zendaya, Angela Bassett, and Amanda Seyfried, in attendance. Perhaps Viola Davis would take our breaths away with a sleek, straight bob or a gorgeous afro full of volume. It's almost impossible to predict Zendaya's looks, but it was sure to win our hearts instantly. With each new public appearance, Andra Day has stood out with her natural vintage glam, so Sunday night was another perfect opportunity for her to experiment. We were also looking forward to seeing what Glenn Close, Halle Berry, and Laura Dern had to bring.

Now that the red carpet has wrapped, we've rounded up our favorite looks from the night.

Regina King

King arrived in a custom light blue Louis Vuitton gown with silver jewelry and a perfectly blended-out smoky eye. Her base and arched eyebrows look flawless. Hairstylist Larry Sims gave her a blunt, chin-grazing bob. He parted her hair straight down the middle and made sure not a hair was out of a place for a beautiful look.

Lakeith Stanfield

The Judas and the Black Messiah actor has been proving blondes have more fun for a while now, but there's just something about his short bleached hair paired with the black sunglasses that is doing something for us. Stanfield kept his full beard its natural brown color, but it and his hair look freshly groomed. For the fashion, he chose a custom black jumpsuit from Saint Laurent and added simple gold jewelry.

Viola Davis

Davis went the natural route with this towering faux hawk, which was styled by Jamika Wilson using Matrix products. The actor's dark curls are looking so gorgeous and healthy. Her makeup artist added a mauve hue to her lips to complement the white Alexander McQueen gown.

Maria Bakalova

This deep red lipstick looks absolutely stunning with the matte burgundy shadows on Bakalova's lids. She's nailing the classic beauty aesthetic with her low bun and slightly textured side bangs. The white Louis Vuitton gown makes this young actor look like a princess ready for a ball.

Andra Day

Day is keeping it light and airy with her makeup. Makeup artist Porsche Cooper used Chanel cosmetics to paint light pink eye shadow on her lids. Cooper added a rosy hue to her lips as well that looks beautiful with her springy curls plopped into a top knot with bangs on her head.

H.E.R.

H.E.R. looks like royalty and more with her bejeweled blue jumpsuit and headscarf. If you look closely, you'll notice the metallic purple winged liner behind her light burgundy glasses. A matte fuchsia pigment sits on her lips that works well with her cool-toned look.
