Mum-of-nine Amanda Owen might be anticipating the pitter patter of tiny feet again, but, this time, she isn’t expecting a baby herself. Instead, the Our Yorkshire Farm star was proudly sharing a pregnancy update about her horse, Hazel.

There was never any family planning, so who knows?

Taking to Twitter for the big reveal, she told her 190,500 followers: “While we’re on the subject of horsepower…hopefully it will only be a matter of months before we hear the clippety clop of tiny ( ish ) hooves.

“Hazel has had her ultrasound scan to check that all is progressing nicely. “

However, after viewing the accompanying pictures, Twitter users had warnings to impart.

“I would rather be stood in front of those great hooves than behind them because a Horse only kicks backwards,” warned @blackhorse1945, after worrying she was perilously close. “She must be a very docile mare,” he added.

Meanwhile, recognising one of Amanda’s daughters in the photos, fans such as @icingsugar27 gushed: “I think Clemmy is destined to work with horses, she is such a little star with them.”

Another joked: “Is Clemmie going to sit there until she foals?”

Meanwhile @Janetev28129124 joined many fans in congratulating Amanda, adding: “Wonderful news on Hazel, let’s hope all goes well, be wonderful for her to have a youngster Luv To The Owens family xxx.”

It comes after Amanda spoke out on whether she wants to add a tenth child to the Owen brood.

The star admitted that despite concerns about her age, she hasn’t ruled the idea out.

“I think I’m too old to have a tenth child,” she wrote in Adventures Of The Yorkshire Shepherdess, “[but] I don’t know, wait and see.”

Amanda has an enormous brood of nine so far – Anna, Violet, Edith, Raven, Clemmy, Nancy, Reuben, Miles, and Sidney – and eight still live at home.

Though having such a large family to care for, not to mention a menagerie of farm animals, might seem stressful, the shepherdess pines over the chance to look after pre-schoolers still.

She has been suffering from “empty nest syndrome” due to all but her youngest daughter Nancy now being at school or college full-time.

The broody TV star challenged: “There was never any family planning, so who knows?

“Don’t let anyone tell you what you can’t do.

“People are quick to say to a mum of nine: ‘You can’t do this, you can’t do that’…

She added to The Sun: “For some people, motherhood is always the way — they’ve got that broody feeling in them.”

However, her attitude to married life is slightly different, as the TV star has previously confessed to not being a “romantic”.

She once told OK! magazine: “Everything we do is interchangeable. Clive will serve afternoon tea and change nappies, I’ll shear sheep and shovel s**t.”
