Days after FaceTiming 12-year-old Brody, the 53-year-old actor sends the young boy a handwritten letter in which he says, ‘There are so many people that love you.’
AceShowbiz –Paul Rudd has become a real superhero for a middle schooler named Brody. Upon learning that the young boy’s classmates refused to sign his yearbook, the “Ant-Man” actor surprised the 12-year-old with a video call.
In an Instagram clip shared by Brody’s mom Cassandra Ridder, Paul was seen trying to raise the kid’s spirit during FaceTime. Cassandra captioned the video by writing, “Something AMAZING happened today!!!! Brody got to talk to Paul Rudd! ANT-MAN!!!! Like this this real life?! Pinch me now! Brody was so excited!”
“I wanted to share a clip of their call! Shout out to Paul Rudd, and his sister Mandi for reaching out and setting this up!” she further raved. “You truly made Brody so happy! My heart is so full right now! #brodyridder #paulrudd #antman #marvel.”
Days afterwards, Cassandra divulged that Paul sent his son a letter, which read, “It was great talking to you the other day. It’s important to remember that even when life is tough that things get better.” The message added, “There are so many people that love you. And think you’re the coolest kid there is. Me being one of them!”
Cassandra shared Brody’s story in an essay for TODAY Parents. She divulged that Brody was brought to tears after only two teachers wrote a message in his yearbook. Two other students, meanwhile, only signed their names. Brody even wrote a note for himself that read, “I hope you make some more friends.”
As for the reason why his son’s classmates refused to sign the yearbook, Cassandra said, “He’s super intellectual and the kids in his age group have trouble relating to him. Noting that the kids also teased her son because “his ears stick out” and he’s “extremely thin,” the mom lamented, “He cries to me pretty much every day.”
Cassandra also shared the story on Facebook. “My poor son. Doesn’t seem like things are getting any better. 2 teachers and a total of 2 students wrote in his yearbook. Despite Brody asking all kinds of kids to sign it,” she explained. “So Brody took it upon himself to write to himself. My heart is shattered. Teach your kids kindness.”
On the next day, Brody surprisingly shared with Cassandra a photo of yearbook filled with messages and signatures. “He had messages from eighth graders and even 11th graders,” she said. “Brody’s exact words to me were, ‘This is the best day ever.’ Some kids even put their phones for Brody to contact them.”
