Actress Sophie Winkleman, best known for her role in the comedy series Peep Show, stood alongside her royal relatives on Monday as they attended the Queen’s funeral to bid her majesty a final farewell.
The 42 year old star is married to Lord Frederick Windsor, the son of the Queen’s cousin Prince Michael of Kent, and appeared alongside him at Westminster Abbey on Monday. The couple also attended the vigil at the Lying-In-State over the weekend.
Sophie was seen walking into the church wearing a black wide-brimmed hat featuring a matching black bow on the front, before taking her seat alongside other relatives of the late monarch
Sophie became a firm favourite among many comedy fans when she played 'Big Suze', the love interest of Robert Webb’s character Jeremy, in long-running Channel 4 sitcom Peep Show, which also starred David Mitchell.
The show ran between 2003 and 2015 and was written by screenwriting heavyweight Jesse Armstrong, who has gone on to create the acclaimed HBO drama Succession starring Brian Cox.
Outside of her acting life, Sophie officially became a member of the royal family when she married Lord Frederick Windsor at Hampton Court Palace in September 2009.
This meant she is officially entitled to be styled as Lady Frederick Windsor but continues to use her own name in her acting career.
Sophie, who is also the half-sister of Strictly Come Dancing presenter Claudia Winkleman, attended the Queen’s vigil on Friday evening as she watched the Queen’s children, including King Charles, perform a historic honour guard around her coffin as it was lying in state at Westminster Hall.
A number of other famous faces have also attended the funeral including adventurer and Chief Scout Bear Grylls and Killing Eve actress Sandra Oh, who made up part of the Canadian delegation as a member of the Order of Canada.
Two thousand people in total attended the service at Westminster Abbey on Monday morning, with millions more tuning in to the televised service as it was broadcast around the globe.
Several world leaders and dignitaries were also in attendance, including from Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
Following the public service and procession, a smaller private ceremony is due to take place at Windsor this evening as the Queen is interred beside her husband, the late Prince Philip.
