Phillip Schofield goes into ‘showbiz hibernation’ after ‘public beating’

Eamonn Holmes says Phillip Schofield 'got off lucky'

His new representative, reputational lawyer Jonathan Coad, confirmed the ex-This Morning host is taking a break after a series of damning headlines over his relationship with a younger colleague.

Asked if the former presenter was available for an interview, Mr Coad said: “You will understand Phillip is just spending quality time with his family and recovering from the beating which he has taken from the press over the last few weeks.”

Phillip’s listing on the country’s biggest celebrity directory, Media Eye, doesn’t include a new showbiz agent, essential for negotiating future work.

He left agency YMU, which had represented him for three decades, on May 26 at the same time as quitting ITV.

An insider at a big talent firm, which deals with high-profile clients, said: “Schofield has gone into showbiz hibernation.

“He’s saying to everyone that he doesn’t want to do anything right now and that’s probably the right course of action.

“No one’s going to give him anything right now.

“As for Holly, she’s playing the right game.

“Daytime is a great place to be, nothing to be ashamed about.”
