In the wake of reports that Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield’s close personal and working relationship is falling apart, Phillip is said to have had a “tense” phone call with his co-star after news of their fallout came to light.
It’s reported that Holly, 42, is “hardly talking to Phillip” as This Morning faces a so-called shake up, with Phillip going on to address the matter directly.
“The last few weeks haven’t been easy for either of us," the 61 year old said following his brother Timothy’s trial, where he was found guilty of sexually abusing a teenage boy over a three-year period.
He went on to tell The Sun: “As I have said before, Holly is my rock. We’re the best of friends – as always, she is an incredible support on screen, behind the scenes and on the phone.
"Holly has always been there for me, through thick and thin. And I’ve been there for her.”
However, as their alleged feud became public, “devastated” Phillip reportedly called Holly to discuss their fallout playing out in front of everyone.
A source told The Sun: "Things have been difficult between them, but for it to play out so publicly was the last thing Phil was ever expecting.
"He has spoken with Holly over the phone about how this all played out. He’s devastated by it all and is incredibly upset."
OK! have contacted Phillip and Holly’s representatives for comment.
There have been several signs that the former besties have been drifting apart, including Phillip’s absence from Holly’s social media.
This Morning fans have been quick to notice that Holly may have wiped Phillip from her socials of late. In particular, her Twitter bio used to read: “I was introduced to Twitter by a legend” as she tagged Phillip.
One fan tweeted in the wake of this change: “Didn’t Holly’s twitter bio say something about being introduced to Twitter by ‘a legend’ (ie Phil), now it’s not there…”
Another said: “Loads of newspaper reports overnight that they’ve fallen out and don’t talk anymore. Holly’s also removed the mention of Phiol from her twitter bio”.
Body language expert Judi James has also noted the pair’s change in body language.
Analysing Phillip’s stance during the opening of the show on Thursday, Judi commented on how his hands were stuffed in his pockets.
She told the Daily Mail: "The first few moments of the show looked toe-curling. Phil was in jaunty over-kill mode, looking super-perky and rather self-amused in a way that seemed to be served with a hint of sarcasm.”
Making things worse, Holly was reportedly been “blindsided” by Phillip’s public comments on their fallout and is said to have had no idea he was going to address the matter.
