Former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan is reportedly celebrating having the last laugh following his explosive exit from the ITV show last year. The star is said to have “exacted revenge” on his former employer by poaching some of the broadcaster’s “best people” for his new programme on TalkTV.
Piers quit his role on GMB last March after storming off set live on-air following a row over Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The infamous TV moment sparked a slew of Ofcom complaints, including one from the Duchess of Sussex herself, after Piers claimed he didn’t believe her damning complaints about life in the Royal Family.
Although Piers’ GMB exit was mired in controversy, he is now said to be getting his own back on ITV by “nicking” several important members of staff to work with him on a new channel, TalkTV, which is set to be launched by Rupert Murdoch in the UK later this year.
The Mail on Sunday claims that a source close to Piers “jubilantly” said: “We’ve nicked all the best people.”
They added: “Piers is not a man to cross.
“He was forced out of ITV totally unnecessarily and now he has dealt the ultimate revenge by taking their stars.
“He has only hired the people who he thinks are the best so this is a really big blow to the channel.”
Express.co.uk has contacted representatives for Piers and ITV for comment.
It comes after Erron Gordon, GMB’s director since the show’s launch in April 2014, was the first to join Piers on his new TV project.
Gordon will be working on Piers’ daily show as executive creative director and head of studio output.
Ollie Gardner, a director on ITV’s Loose Women and previous GMB team member, will reportedly become deputy head of studio output.
Meanwhile, GMB’s assistant editor Ben Briscoe is said to have left ITV to be series editor of News UK’s television programmes.

Vivek Sharma, who spent eight years working as a key part of ITV’s daytime schedule behind-the-scenes, including as deputy editor of GMB, has been appointed executive producer of TalkTV.
Tim Carr, the floor manager on This Morning for 25 years, has also reportedly quit ITV to reunite with Piers.
TalkTV has also hired former ITV daytime producer Lindsey Bowers ahead of its launch.
Piers recently claimed he was censored by ITV for his views on Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
He wrote in his column for The Sun: “The column is called Uncensored because it does what it says on the tin.
“Effectively I was censored at my previous job and told to apologise to Meghan Markle for an honestly held opinion, which obviously I wasn’t going to do.
“Pushy little Princess Pinocchio tried her utmost to cancel me, and she will be in for a very unpleasant surprise when I emerge, like Lazarus, from my den.
“It was a pretty bruising experience on Good Morning Britain but I’m now working somewhere where I’m free to express my opinions.”
