Former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan, 55, has insisted his vow to quit the show on air has “aged well”, despite recent events. The short video was posted on Instagram two weeks after he made the decision to leave the programme following the backlash he received over his remarks about Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Au contraire… It aged perfectly

The short clip from three years ago was posted on account @wallofcomedy, along with the caption: “He spoke it into existence” along with two laughing face emojis.

The video shows Piers presenting the favourite breakfast show with co-presenter Susanna Reid, 50, as he makes a vow to leave the programme “live on air.”

The outspoken presenter promises: “I will definitely quit live on air one day.

“Just bang, gone, done, out the door.”

The presenter also revealed that he had a getaway plan already in place for his exit.

He continued: “Literally, into the car with my trusty driver Gordon.

“Gordon will say, ‘Where are we going?’

“I’ll say, ‘I don’t know, let’s just hit the highway’.”

Reposting the clip to his Instagram stories, Piers hit back: “Au contraire… It aged perfectly.”

After Oprah with Meghan and Harry aired in the US, Piers came to blows with colleague Alex Beresford over his comments about the Duchess of Sussex, which resulted in the former storming off the set.

Alex felt strongly about Piers dismissing Meghan’s claims about the racism and mental health issues she has suffered.

He told Piers: “This is absolutely diabolical behaviour,” as he stormed off the breakfast show.

Earlier today Piers shared a post of himself along with a stack of his bestselling book, Wake Up, which he branded a “passionate defence of free speech.”

He wrote: “Wake Up! The paperback of my No1 bestseller is here, and never has there been a more important time to read a passionate defence of free speech & a clarion call to end the woke cancel culture bullsh*t that’s wrecking our society.

“It’s time to fight for the right to have an opinion, even if someone else doesn’t like it!”

His son Spencer Morgan commented: “RIP cancel culture.”

Just days ago the former GMB host unleashed another rant aimed at Meghan on Twitter after her and Prince Harry’s claim that they married in secret before their Windsor Castle ceremony was seemingly disproved by their marriage certificate.

The royals told Oprah they were married by Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby three days before their wedding,

However, the General Register Office has now shared the couple’s wedding certificate for the first time which reveals that they were officially married on May 19, 2018.

Sharing an article over the marriage certificate with his 7.9million Twitter followers, Piers wrote: “Do we still have to believe her?”
