Mr Morgan’s intense sit-down chat with Sir Keir will air this week. In, ‘Piers Morgan’s Life Stories’, the Labour leader will be seen squirming under studio lights as Mr Morgan asks him a series of personal and uncomfortable questions. He refused to say whether he had taken drugs 14 times after Mr Morgan quizzed him on claims he was a “party animal” at university.
Stills taken from the recording also appeared to show Sir Keir with tears in his eyes as he reflected on his childhood in Surrey and his mother’s “battle with a debilitating illness”, according to ITV.
Mr Morgan’s life stories, while combative at times, sees the former Good Morning Britain host take on a gentler persona.
It is a side viewers are not used to.
Last year, while still a GMB presenter, Mr Morgan in characteristic style called-out Sir Keir after receiving a Christmas card from him that, in his opinion, wasn’t up to scratch.
Sharing the fact that he was on the Labour leader’s Christmas card list, he said he was unimpressed by the way he was addressed in the offering.
He held the card to the cameras, which featured a snap of Sir Keir and his wife Victoria clapping on their doorstep for the NHS.
Opening it up in an attempt to namecheck, it was here that Mr Morgan expressed his contempt.
The card was addressed: ‘Dear Friend’.

Mr Morgan joked he had had a better message from former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.
He said: “I got a lovely card here from Sir Keir Starmer showing him and his wife clapping for health workers.
“And inside ‘Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, best wishes Keir Starmer’.
“It just says, printed out, ‘Dear friend’ – no name, no personalisation.

“It is fine but a bit impersonal, Keir!
“Jezza, to be fair to him, I got a ‘Dear Piers’ and I was much, much tougher on Corbyn.”
Meanwhile, according to The Daily Mail, Sir Keir became tearful in his interview with Mr Morgan when he spoke about his late mother, Josephine.
He explained she had never got to see him become an MP as she died just weeks before his election in 2015.
Sir Keir told of how his mother had suffered from Still’s disease, a rare type of inflammatory arthritis, and how she never got to know his children as she became completely debilitated by her illness.
His father, Rodney, became reclusive after her death and in the years before his own passing in 2018.
The couples’ wedding photographs and other possessions were lost in a fire that also claimed the life of the family’s dog.
He also discussed halting his leadership campaign in 2020 after his mother-in-law was involved in a sudden accident that ultimately resulted in her death.
The interview is set to be an unprecedented insight into Sir Keir’s life before he shot to fame as leader of the opposition, much of which is still unknown.
