Pregnant Shaughna Phillips ‘ready’ for motherhood but won’t take maternity leave

Shaughna Phillips has opened up on preparing for the birth of her first child, explaining that she feels "ready" for motherhood now.

Having reached the 33-week mark, the 28 year old Love Island star has been busy gathering all the supplies and baby gear she'll need for when her bundle of joy finally arrives.

Speaking exclusively to OK! magazine, Shaughna explained that she's spent the last few weeks getting "really organised" as she's bought baby bottles, towels, blankets and has even ordered the pram.

"I finally ordered a pram for the baby, which is being delivered soon, I've also got all the bottles and dummies that we'll need for when he or she is here," she told us. "I spent three days sterilising everything and washing all the clothes I bought."

While Shaughna feels like she might be done buying items now until the baby is here, her mum can't stop finding sweet things to get.

"My mum and I went shopping the other day and bought some more blankets and towels, too. My mum is worse than me!" Shaughna confessed.

The star continued: "The novelty of buying baby clothes and gear has started to wear off for me, but every time we're out she's like, 'Look at this, look at this'."

Shaughna added: "I've also packed the baby's hospital bag and my own one. I'm practically good to go now. This is the first time I've kind of felt ready – I'm ready to go!"

Although the star is nearly completely set for motherhood, she's confessed there's a good chance she won't take much time off following the birth.

She said: "I might take one or two weeks off, but it really depends on how the birth is. I'm hoping that it's very straightforward. I want to be in and out – go home and just enjoy the baby bubble for a little while."

Shaughna continued: "But that's the one thing about being self-employed, you can't really take time off. That is not me moaning at all, I'm very lucky. But it means, the longer I take time off, the harder it might be for me to get back into the swing of things.

"I want to try and incorporate my baby into my life, I don't want my life to change."

"So I won't take too much time off. The option would obviously be there for me, but I don't plan on it," she added.

Meanwhile, the Love Island star opened up on how she's been coping since news of boyfriend Billy's arrest and charge with possession with intent to supply a Class A drug last week.

The devastating news rocked her, but she's focusing on the future as she told OK!: "After a challenging few weeks, obviously, the baby's father isn't around. But my main focus has always been just to prepare for the birth and try to be as calm as possible.

"I'm good at just saying, 'Right, the show must go on'."

She added: "Obviously, Billy's not around, but I don't want to say that I'm doing it on my own, because I'm absolutely not – my family's incredible. It's going to be different, but I don't want to say it's going to be bad."
