Prince Harry and Meghan Markle confirm they were requested to vacate Frogmore Cottage

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been “requested to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage” in Windsor, a spokesperson for the couple said.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex appeared to confirm reports earlier in the day that suggested that Prince Charles had asked them to move out of their UK residence following the release of Prince Harry's tell-all book, Spare.

A statement from an Archewell spokeswoman released on Wednesday said: “We can confirm The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been requested to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage.”

The confirmation comes after reports that they have been evicted from their UK home with King Charles offering the property to his brother Prince Andrew.

A royal insider told The Sun that the move "surely spells the end of Harry and Meghan’s time in the UK."

And another source has told Page Six that eviction process was started by Charles on 11 January, just one day after Spare hit the shelves.

The shakeup of royal households is said to have left Meghan and Harry "stunned" while Andrew is reported to also be against move, preferring to stay in the Royal Lodge, where he has lived since 2003.

Despite the continued fallout and estrangement from his family, Harry is said to have "no regrets" about publishing his memoir.

A source, who also attended Ellen and Portia's vow renewal told Page Six: “Harry said he was really happy about the success of the book and the reaction to it.

“He said he had no regrets about any of the revelations, and he’s relieved to have got his story out into the world. There’s been an amazing reaction to it, he said.“

Following its release the book became the fastest-selling non-fiction book ever, with the English language edition selling more than 1.4 million copies on its first day of publication.

The continued controversy surrounding Harry’s book has led to speculation as to whether the Sussexes will be invited to King Charles Coronation in May.

The King reportedly wants Harry and Meghan, who stepped back from senior royal duties in 2020, to attend the ceremony, but it is not clear whether a decision has been made by the pair.
