Prince Harry has ruled out returning to the UK for Prince Philip's memorial but 'hopes to visit the Queen as soon as possible'.
The Duke of Sussex, 37, who recently attended a rodeo in Texas despite his wife Meghan Markle's animal rights activism, will not be jetting back to the UK for the Service of Thanksgiving on March 29 at Westminster Abbey, a spokesman confirmed on Friday 11 March.
However Prince Harry, who shares children Archie, two, and nine month old Lilibet with wife Meghan Markle, is hoping to visit his grandmother, Her Majesty the Queen, 95, 'as soon as possible', according to a spokesman for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex
It comes after Harry has recently raised concerns about his safety during trips to the UK and even threatened legal action to acquire security for his family after his request to buy police protection was denied.
A court heard in February that Harry does not 'feel safe' in the UK if he doesn’t have protection from Scotland Yard officers.
However Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and their two young children, Archie and Lilibet, were not expected to attend the memorial service.
Royal Commentator Neil Sean previously revealed he thinks that it may be best for them to stay away from the event but for another reason.
Speaking on his popular YouTube channel he said: "It's very difficult for Harry and Meghan because if they do come back over here whichever way they turn all eyes will be on them.
"The media will want to know which family members interact, which don't."
Neil has instead suggested they record a video message that is played during the private part of the day, and not at Westminster Abbey.
"This is the best idea moving forward," he concluded.
The Queen is still yet to meet Harry and Meghan’s second child, Lilibet, and recently Meghan’s friend Omid Scobie revealed that the couple won’t introduce the eight month old to her great-grandmother this year if “security concerns can’t be resolved”.
Omid Scobie, Meghan’s pal and co-author of Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and The Making of a Modern Royal Family, exclusively told OK! that the couple will be reluctant to visit the UK with their young children “due to safety reasons and the ongoing threats that they face.”
The author said: “As we've seen more recently, this issue of security and how that will be covered has thrown a bit of a spanner in the works."
