Prince Harry shares heartbreaking wish for his children Archie and Lilibet

Prince Harry gave a heartfelt speech about his mother just days before the 25th anniversary of her death, and shared his wish that Archie, three, and Lilibet, one, had met her before she died.

Speaking at the Sentebale Polo Cup in Aspen, USA, yesterday, Friday 26 August, Harry, 37, said his mother would “never be forgotten”.

Harry founded Sentebale alongside friend Prince Seeiso – a charity which “gives hope to children and young people affected by HIV in Lesotho and Botswana”.

The Polo Cup was created to raise money for the charity.

“My dear friend Prince Seeiso and I founded Sentebale 16 years ago in honour of our mothers with a mission to support many of the most vulnerable young people on the planet — and to give them care and help so that they can thrive," he said.

"In Sesotho, the language of the Basotho—the word Sentebale means 'forget-me-not.'"

Speaking about his mother and how he wished his young children would have met her, Harry went on: “Next week is the 25th anniversary of my mother's death, and she most certainly will never be forgotten. I want it to be a day filled with memories of her incredible work and love for the way that she did it.

“I want it to be a day to share the spirit of my mum with my family, with my children, who I wish could have met her.”

"Fittingly, her favourite flowers were forget-me-nots,” he added.

“I hope we can remember my mother's legacy by recommitting to those that we serve, whoever and wherever they may be. For Sentebale, our commitment is to ending HIV and providing meaningful care and support for the children and young people whose lives have been affected by this disease. Because they, too, will never be forgotten."

Harry travelled from his home of California to Colorado for the charity event, and received backlash for taking a £7.6 million private jet to get there.

Harry was seen boarding the Bombardier Challenger 600 private jet at Santa Barbara airport on Wednesday as he headed to the one-day polo match in Aspen, Colorado.

The Daily Mail reported that the jet then sat on the tarmac for around 30 minutes as he waited for his staff to arrive in a SUV to deliver his polo kit.

The publication claimed that two men were then seen delivering the prince’s green kit bag and mallets to the plane in a golf cart before they were placed in the cargo hold.

The aircraft is owned by businessman Marc Ganzi, who is an old friend of Harry's.
